Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin's drug test came back negative, her office revealed on Monday, just days after a firestorm erupted over leaked footage of the leader partying and dancing wildly with friends.
The 36-year-old leader announced on Friday that she would undergo a drug test to allay concerns that she may have been under the influence of the controversial videos.
Since then, the Marin office has confirmed that tests showed no traces of narcotics in his system.
After the series of videos surfaced, Marin adamantly denied taking drugs, saying she hadn't seen anyone else doing it at the party she attended in an apartment after returning from summer vacation.
"I didn't do anything illegal," he told reporters in Helsinki on Friday. "Even in my teens, I haven't used any kind of drugs."
The married leader, who is one of the world's youngest heads of state, said she was aware she was being filmed dancing with friends in the apartment, but had no idea the footage would be made public.
The Social Democrat leader later insisted that her ability to carry out her official duties remained intact during her party, and that she would have left if she had had to work.
"I don't remember a single time that there was a sudden situation in the middle of the night to go to the State Council Palace," Marin said. “I think my ability to function was really good. There were no known gatherings on the days I was partying."
