During the 2002 Gujarat riots, Bilkis Bano was gang-raped, Bilkil Bano fought a long legal battle for justice. Finally, in 2008, 11 gang-rape accused were sentenced to life imprisonment. Then, on August 15, Gujarat government released these 11 convicts. This decision is being fiercely opposed across the country.
