Amazing Footage of a Male Lion Taking Down a Buffalo with Consumate Ease Before your Very Eyes!

Tarylin Ltd has a hotel, Tarylin Safari Lodge, and a safari company, Tarylin Safaris, which takes guests to the national parks of the Northern Safari Circuit, Tanzania. We take photos and videos throughout each safari to share with our clients at the end. This was one spectacular piece of footage we were lucky enough to capture on film on a safari in January, after coming across three male lions mating with a lucky lady lioness.
The two males run off camera to carry on mating with her while the third ruins the buffalo's day with all the power one might expect from the King of the Jungle! A herd of buffalo, weighing collectively around 30 to 40 tons, are standing on the other side of the car but of course, none come to the running to the rescue for fear of becoming next on the menu.
Ironically the wind and the rain and the buffalo herd likely spelled this buffalo's doom. Buffalo have poor eyesight but a keen sense of smell. This buffalo could likely smell the herd of buffalo he was running towards but couldn't smell the lions. The lion's couldn't resist the opportunity of such an easy meal and took a break from mating to pull the poor soul to the floor. The rest was history!
