As of 2019, 85% of forests in Peninsular Malaysia were Permanent Reserve Forests, or PRFs. However this is just a classification, and one that can be revoked or degazetted, at any point in time, by the sole authority in charge of land - State Governments. So what drives deforestation or conservation in Peninsular Malaysia?
