Motorway work crews strimming hedges at 3am in Clayton Brook, Lancashire

Night work has been taking place along the stretch of motorway between Clayton Brook and Walton Summit this week, with crews usually arriving on site at 10pm and working under giant spotlights until around 3.30am.

For those living on the estate around Clayton Brook Road – just metres away from the motorway – the sounds of sawing, drilling and hammering, and the constant hum of generators, is keeping them awake at night.
