This was the scene after a Range Rover smashed into a house in the early hours of the morning. The homeowner said he was woken up to what “sounded like a bomb going off” after the car rammed through a garden wall in Maidstone, Kent at around 1am. The driver has been arrested by cops on suspicion of drink driving and was taken into custody. Locals said that the two passengers went off to try and find a McDonalds following the crash on Lower Boxley Road. The posh black car, which costs more than £15,000, had three young men inside and hit the wall so hard bricks shot through nearby windows. No one was injured but two homes have been seriously damaged and needed doors and windows boarded up. Anthony Latta, 33, who lives at the house said: "It sounded like a bomb going off. "We thought something had broken the window or front door and went down stairs and realised it was more serious than we thought. “There was smoke or dust everywhere and the brick had smashed our window. “Luckily nobody was hurt and the police and fire service came out pretty quick." Mr Latta's young children were in the house at the time but weren't woken up by the bang. Neighbour Paul Gammage heard the bang in the early hours and went out to check everyone was okay. He said: “It scared the crap out of me. "There was a group of young boys who got out the car and the driver stayed while his mates went off to McDonald's. "It must have come flying round the corner. It's just lucky nobody was hurt." The air bag in the vehicle went off and it also has a badly damaged front right wheel. The car is yet to be removed as surveyors need to come out and assess if there is any structural damage, the landlord has confirmed. A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 12.50am on Friday, August 5, to a report that a car had struck a property on Lower Boxley Road, Maidstone. "Officers attended the scene along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service where no injuries were reported. "The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and he was taken into custody."
