Pakistani weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt has won Pakistan its first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and Pakistanis couldn’t be prouder of the young weightlifter. Butt’s gold-medal winning lift involved him lifting a record total of 405 kg in the +109 kg category of the Commonwealth Games heavy-lifting event .24-year-old Butt hails from Gujranwala and lifted 173 kg in his first attempt in the snatch portion of the event, as well as 232 kg during the Clean and Jerk category, which brought his total up to 405 kg, earning him the gold medal for Pakistan.
