WATCH: Sen. Risa Hontiveros, a women’s advocate delivers a message to Filipino women.
In a 3-minute video, Hontiveros addressed the victims of gender-based violence and pointed out the country’s current problem with gender inequality. She also encouraged men to become allies of women for the greater good.
“Aabante ang lahat, kung aabante ang babae,” said Hontiveros.
As the world is dealing with Covid-19, women are left vulnerable to sexual abuse and exploitation.
In 2018, Sen. Hontiveros was the principal author and sponsor of the RA11313 or the Safe Spaces Act. All forms of gender-based sexual harassment in online and public areas are punishable under this law.
“Kapag ligtas ang mga espasyo, online man o sa kalsada. Hindi matatakot ang sino mang babae na magsalita, mangarap, at magtagumpay,” Hontiveros added.
Mga ka-masa, tayo na at ipagdiwang ang bawat Pilipinong kababaihan!
