Funny moment dad forgets his pads during rival cricket game

This is the moment a dad walked on to the field to bat during a rival cricket game - and realised he'd forgotten his pads. Martin Hughes, 54, has been the butt of the joke amongst his team mates recently after he had a 'senior moment' on the field. The dad of two was batting fourth for his local team Southend on Sea Civic Centre when he forgot to put on the important bit of kit. In the video, Martin can be seen strolling confidently up to the the crease, ready to bat for him team, when he looks down and realises what he's forgotten. Both his team and the opposition then burst out laughing, as he's forced to run off and get dressed properly. The rival match between Southend on Sea Civic Centre and Southend on Sea EMT finished 200 runs to 176 in favour of the latter. But, it was Martin's mistake which seemed to be the main talking point of the fixture. Martin, a company director from Southend on Sea, Essex, said: "I have been a keen cricketer throughout my life, but this was my first season back in about 15 years. "This is my big comeback season, but clearly I'm knocking on it a bit as I had a very senior moment! "I was busy bantering in the changing rooms before my turn to bat and it just slipped my mind to put my pads on. "My teammates and my kids have been taking the mic but it is funny at the end of the day - I've just had to wear it. "
