Comparison: 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line vs 2022 Genesis GV70 Advanced Plus / Electric vs Gasoline

Let's say that you have a little over $60,000 CAD to spend on a new vehicle. Do you buy a traditional gasoline powers car like the 2022 Genesis GV70 Advanced Plus or do you buy an electric vehicle like the new 2022 KIA EV6 GT-Line? Should you buy an EV in 2022 or wait 5 to 7 years before making the switch to electric vehicles? That is the question that I want to try to answer in this video.
The 2022 KIA EV6 can be equipped with a single motor (RWD) or a dual motor (AWD) powertrain. This GT-Line has the latter. Power and torque figures range from as little as 167 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque (125 kW & 350 Nm) for the entry level trim up to 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque (238 kW & 604 Nm) for this top spec trim.
The least powerful version of the KIA EV6 2022 has an estimated range of 373 km (232 miles). This dual-motor AWD version is 441 km (274 miles) and the long range RWD can drive for an estimated 499 km (310 miles). However, those are just estimates and in the real world, you can get better or worse driving range. After charging the EV6 to 100%, the car notified me that it could actually drive for upwards of 470 km (292 miles).
The turbocharged 4-cylinder engine under the hood of the Genesis GV70 2022 is 2.5L in displacement and it produces 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque (223 kW & 422 Nm). When compared to other luxury options with 4-cylinder engines, this GV70 has more bite. What’s really impressive is that the peak torque figure is reached between 1,300 to 4,500 rpms. This makes the engine responsive and it helps get the 1,965 kg (4,332 lbs) body off the line quickly.
With this turbo 4-cylinder and AWD, the 2022 Genesis GV70 2.5T Advanced is rated for 10.7 L/100km (22 MPG) in a city and 8.4 L/100km (28 MPG) on a highway. I averaged 10.3 L/100km (22.8 MPG) during my time with the SUV.
