South Korea’s first locally developed fighter jet, the KF-21, took off for an inaugural test flight from an Air Force base in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province on July 19, 2022. The jet, developed by the country’s military and Korea Aerospace Industries, is meant to replace South Korea’s fleet of obsolete F-4 and F-5 fighter jets bought from the US.
