“Soft Power Central To Rebalancing The World” India’s External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently attended an event conducted by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi. He spoke about how soft power is central to rebalancing the world. Soft power, he said, is all about creating a narrative, an image, and setting standards to condition the world. He also spoke about how a narrative can be distorted by giving an example of the British Rule in India and how many see it as ‘a good thing that helped India’. Presently, India is bringing about a change in the historic narrative by bringing in its culture and traditions which previously wasn’t given the right amount of play.
