Monsoon fury batters Gujarat, southern states with rising death toll

The monsoon season is wreaking havoc across several states in the country. Over 400 people have died across the country since the beginning of the monsoon season.

In Gujarat, there is no immediate respite in sight as the India Meteorological Department (IMD)has predicted "heavy to very heavy rainfall" at some places in south Gujarat and Saurashtra on Saturday. Villagers were stuck for days in Navsari. 80 people have died in Gujarat and an alert was issued in eight districts.

In Maharashtra too, the death toll has risen to 102 with another 11,000 people shifted to safety.

Heavy rainfall continues to batter Odisha, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Assam too.
