Boris Johnson Resigns As UK PM, Says He Will Remain Until New PM Is In Place, In Resignation Speech
  • 2 years ago
After more than 50 ministers, aides, and secretaries had tendered their resignation over Boris Johnson’s handling of MP Chris Pincher row, the UK prime minister announced that “it is the view of the Conservative Party that a new leader must be elected.” However, Boris Johnson did not utter the words “I resign”. Instead he chose to put the blame of his having to step down as UK prime minister on the raft of resignations, including those from the top – Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid, who resigned on July 5, after saying they do not have confidence in Johnson’s leadership anymore.
