A growing number of rural households in China are enjoying extra income and other benefits of solar energy after installing panels to power homes and businesses. Photovoltaic loans are allowing residents to pay an initial 30 per cent of the cost of installing solar panels, which then allow villagers to earn more by selling excess electricity they generate. More than half of the solar capacity generated in 2021 in China was from rooftop solar-power systems.
