Calls for stricter border measures amid outbreak in Bali
  • 2 years ago
A livestock disease which could shut down Australia's meat and livestock trade has reached Bali sparking calls for tougher border measures for travellers returning from the holiday island. It has been confirmed at least 60 cows had tested positive to foot and mouth disease on the Indonesian island. The highly contagious disease affects cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Australia's chief veterinary officer Doctor Mark Schipp says international travellers can expect stricter border controls when arriving in Australia.
