Sonal Goel continued her job and LLB studies as well as UPSC exam preparation and in the year 2006 she was not successful for the first time. After hard work, she took the exam for the second time in the year 2007 and managed to become an IAS by securing 13th rank all over India.

सोनल गोयल ने अपनी नौकरी और एलएलबी की पढ़ाई के साथ-साथ यूपीएससी परीक्षा की तैयारी जारी रखी और वर्ष 2006 में वह पहली बार सफल नहीं हुईं। कड़ी मेहनत के बाद उन्होंने वर्ष 2007 में दूसरी बार परीक्षा दी और पूरे भारत में 13वीं रैंक हासिल कर आईएएस बनने में सफल रहीं।
