Pair of robot dogs work together to cook burger

Boffins have provided a glimpse into the future by creating robots that worked together to create a burger. This incredible video shows two robot dogs working together to create a burger. PHD students at the University of Leeds have worked together to create what could be a glimpse into the future - robots making burgers. In the video, the two four-legged robots pick up the burger, place it in a pan and then toss it. The burger is then taken from the plan by the robots and placed between the bun. The robots were controlled by a single operator which used a gamepad to control the walking of the robotic dogs, whilst wearing a motion capture system to manipulate the robotic arms. Dr Chengxu Zhour, a robotics lecturer at the University of Leeds said: “We thought that robots making burgers would be an interesting topic for the public. “It is quite a difficult task for a normal robot because even though they are good at operating hard objects, the burger and bun are soft.” Dr Chengxu also said he would ‘like to see more robots into our daily lives to help us do tasks such as tedious housework.’ He said: “Due to the pandemic where we had to work from home, we couldn’t do normal things. “We could send a robot in the future, and we can map our mind into that robot.” The 37-year-old added: “Robots can not only help us do tasks but if you wanted to help your parents, for example, who live far away. “If their house has the same kind of robot, then you can control that robot to help your parents. “This kind of future with robots is not fully autonomous.”
