Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: Schools Shut, Work From Home Advisory As Fuel Supply Only for Emergency

The economic crisis is only getting worse as the Sri Lankan government has shut down schools and urged employees to work from home in an effort to save fuel. Sri Lanka has banned private vehicles from accessing fuel until July 10 as its government attempts to manage a severe shortage amid a worsening economic crisis. It has also ordered fuel sale for only emergencies for the next fourteen days. Fuel stations across Colombo witnessed to hour-long queues as news of the government came through. Bandula Gunawardana, the spokesperson for the cabinet, told reporters that the country would only issue fuel to services deemed essential until July 10. Inter-provincial bus services were also expected to be stopped.
