Yashwant Sinha As Opposition President Candidate, Draupadi Murmu Named By BJP As The NDA's Candidate For July 18 Contest

On June 21, Yashwant Sinha, a former Union Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government was declared as the joint opposition candidate for President polls. Opposition leaders decided on Sinha’s name at a meeting convened by NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Pawar tweeted, “We have unanimously chosen Shri Yashwant Sinha as the common candidate of the opposition parties for the Presidential Election.” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted,” A man of great honour and acumen, who would surely uphold the values that represent our great nation!” Yashwant Sinha tweeted saying that “time has come when for a larger national cause.” Meanwhile, BJP named 64-year-old Droupadi Murmu, a former Governor of Jharkhand as the NDA candidate for the elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Her understanding of policy matters and compassionate nature will greatly benefit our country.” Watch the video to know more.
