Voting for Rajya Sabha is different from other electoral voting. What makes it different is the method of voting.. The way ballot machines are used in the election of body, assembly or Lok Sabha, it is not done in the election of Rajya Sabha candidates. Voters use a special type of PAN in the elections to Rajya Sabha seats. There is a purple colored ink in this pen, the ink of that shade is specially prepared only for the Rajya Sabha elections.

राज्यसभा के लिये मतदान, दूसरे अन्य चुनावी-मतदान से अलग होते हैं। इसे अलग बनाता है वोटिंग का तरीका.. जिस तरह से निकाय, विधानसभा या लोकसभा के चुनाव में बैलेट मशीन का उपयोग किया जाता है, वैसा राज्यसभा उम्मीदवारों के चुनाव में नहीं किया जाता। राज्यसभा की सीटों पर होने वाले चुनाव में मतदाता एक खास तरह के पैन का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। इस पैन में एक बैंगनी रंग की स्याही होती है, उस शेड की स्याही को सिर्फ खासतौर से राज्यसभा चुनाव के लिये ही तैयार किया जाता है।
