More than 70 percent of our earth is covered by water, because of this immense reservoir of water in the oceans, our earth has been named as the Nile planet. Because of this, life on earth has become possible. It is because of the oceans that there is such an environment on the earth where the growth of flora and fauna could take place. World Oceans Day or World Oceans Day is celebrated every year on 8 June every year for their conservation and the importance of human connection with nature.

हमारी धरती के 70 फीसदी से ज़्यादा हिस्से पर जल है, महासागरों में जल के इस अपार भंडार की वजह से ही हमारी धरती को नील ग्रह की संज्ञा दी गई है। इसी की वजह से धरती पर जीवन संभव हो पाया है। महासागरों की ही वजह से धरती पर ऐसा वातावरण है जहां जीव और वनस्पतियों का विकास हो पाया। इनके संरक्षण और प्रकृति के साथ मानव के जुड़ाव की अहमियत को लेकर ही हर साल 8 जून को वर्ल्ड ऑशंस डे या विश्व महासागर दिवस हर साल मनाया जाता है।
