Russian president Vladimir Putin is welcoming leaders of the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organisation in Moscow.
Belarus' Alexander Lukashenko is one of the presidents joining the military alliance meeting at the Kremlin. The summit is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty. Members of the CSTO include Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
Tensions between Russia and NATO nations are currently growing. In a historic shift away from neutrality, both Finland and Sweden have taken steps towards joining NATO. Both countries want to bolster their security following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. NATO member Turkey has voiced reservations about the nordic countries joining the alliance - and there are fears that it may veto the decision. Russia for its part called it a grave mistake. DW spoke with Tütti Tuppurainen, the Finnish Minister for European Affairs.
