New Hall of Flame Museum Exhibit Honors African-American Inventor

The Hall of Flame Museum features all sorts of fascinating and inspiring exhibits on the history of firefighting, but one of the newest displays has to do with an inventor you may never have heard of. Garrett Augustus Morgan from Kentucky developed a smoke mask for firefighters and other emergency workers that was highly effective, but often wasn’t taken seriously at the time because he was African-American.
