What is Sketching?
Even with the use of technology, which I consider extremely important for architecture, I still see many professionals using the old pencil and paper to capture the first idea of a project. Not to develop an entire project by hand, because that doesn't make sense today since there are technical drawing programs that we can design and modify our entire project in a much faster way than if we draw by hand. The sketch is that initial trace of a project, it serves to transmit ideas very quickly to paper. It serves to exchange ideas with other architects who are part of the same project or even for the client. It is the act of recording an idea or an instantaneous scene. They are usually produced in strokes that are not very precise or even uncompromised. That's why they don't serve as a definitive project, but as a capture of an initial idea it's very valuable.
