The Krishak Bazars or farm mandis were a flagship scheme of the Mamata Banerjee government, and were established a year after the Trinamool Congress came to power in West Bengal in 2011. The projects announced across the state were meant to burnish the Trinamool Congress government’s pro-farmer credentials.
10 years later, however, these flagship mandis either lie vacant or are being used as rented space.
