The panchayats are also known as village government. It has some similar status in common parlance among the people. Panchayats held in villages and kheds are so special that big issues and disputes are resolved here. The direction of development and upliftment of villages also ends from here. Gandhi himself used to say that the soul of India resides in the villages. In such a situation, a lot of emphasis was also given on better arrangements for these villages.

पंजायतों को गांव की सरकार के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। लोगों के बीच आम बोलचाल में इसे कुछ ऐसा ही दर्जा प्राप्त हैं। गांव-खेड़ों में लगने वाली पंचायतें इतनी खास होती हैं, कि यहां बड़े-बड़े मुद्दे और विवाद सुलझा लिये जाते हैं। गांवों के विकास और उत्थान की दिशा भी यहीं से पूरी होती है। खुद गांधी जी भी यही कहते थे, कि भारत की आत्मा गांवों में बसती है। ऐसे में इन गांवों के लिये बेहतर व्यवस्था पर भी खूब ज़ोर दिया गया।
