Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan dissolves parliament, calls for early election
  • 2 years ago
The Pakistani parliamentary assembly was dissolved on April 3, 2022, by order of Prime Minister Imran Khan, triggering an election within 90 days. A no-confidence vote had been scheduled on April 3. The opposition claimed it had the simple majority of 172 votes out of 342 to unseat Khan. The no-confidence motion was blocked by the deputy speaker of parliament. From April 4, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments to determine if Khan’s moves were constitutional.
