On Monday, the Hindu Janajagriti Samiti, a right-wing organisation in Karnataka, declared that they are starting a campaign against the purchase of Halal meat in the state. The argument put forward by the group is that Halal meat is slaughtered under Islamic practices and hence cannot be offered to the Hindu Gods. This adds to the already ongoing incidents of communally charged incidents in the state.
