Despite locking down residential blocks and conducting frequent Covid-19 tests, the Chinese megacity of Shanghai continues to record over 100 new cases each day. While China’s hardline policies to fight the spread of the coronavirus have helped the country keep pandemic at bay, the latest round of lockdowns has had a visible effect on the streets of Shanghai. SCMP video producer Thomas Yau was one of the many residents caught up in a local lockdown that was extended from two days to six.
