पिछले कई महीनों से विदेशी विनिमय की कमी से जूझ रहे श्रीलंका में हालात अब और ज्यादा खराब हो गए हैं। इससे यहां आर्थिक संकट बेहद गहरा गया है, जिसका सीधा-सीधा असर अब यहां के जन-जीवन पर भी पड़ने लगा है। हालात का अंदाज़ा इस बात से ही लगाया जा सकता है, कि रोज़मर्रा की ज़रूरतों के लिये भी लोगों को परेशान होना पड़ रहा है। इसके साथ-साथ श्रीलंका में ईंधन की भी भारी कमी हो गई है।
