yahi gar aankh mein rah jae to hai chingari
qatra-e-ashk jo bah jae to ek dariya hai

zulf-e-shab-gun ke siwa nargis-e-jadu ke siwa
dil ko kuchh aur balaon ne bhi aa ghera hai

aa ki ghurbat-kada-e-dahr mein ji bahlaen
ai dil us jalwa-gah-e-naz mein kya rakkha hai

zaKHm hi zaKHm hun main subh ki manind 'firaq'
raat bhar hijr ki lazzat se maza luTa hai

یہی گر آنکھ میں رہ جائے تو ہے چنگاری
قطرۂ اشک جو بہہ جائے تو اک دریا ہے

زلف شب گوں کے سوا نرگس جادو کے سوا
دل کو کچھ اور بلاؤں نے بھی آ گھیرا ہے

آ کہ غربت کدۂ دہر میں جی بہلائیں
اے دل اس جلوہ گہہ ناز میں کیا رکھا ہے

زخم ہی زخم ہوں میں صبح کی مانند فراقؔ
رات بھر ہجر کی لذت سے مزا لوٹا ہے
