Cyclone Asani Nomenclature: First Tropical Storm Of 2022, Named By Sri Lanka

‘Asani’, a cyclonic storm, is brewing over the South Bay of Bengal and adjoining the east Equatorial Indian Ocean. The cyclone is expected to have landfall in Andaman and Nicobar islands, most probably on March 21. On March 20 evening, the India Meteorological Department informed that cyclone Asani is likely to intensify into a deep depression during the next 12 hours. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed. Weather warnings have been issued. Sri Lanka suggested the name of Cyclone Asani. Reportedly, the storm will continue to track north-northwestwards and reach Bangladesh and the adjoining Myanmar coast by March 22. Watch the video to know more.
