After news of the major attack broke, a Top Valley mother spoke of panic in the area. Police were called to Charlock Close, Top Valley, just after 4pm today (Wednesday 16 March 2022).

One man was taken to hospital, with the cordon still in place. Amy Duke, a mother who lives in the area, said she initially thought it was her son who was attacked.

"My friend wrote to me that a boy had just been stabbed," the 30-year-old said. "I've never been so scared in my life, I just started crying. She said, 'Where's your son?' I've never run so fast in my life."

Amy's young son was found safe, but added: "You just want to move. I don't feel safe at all. There are always stab wounds and guns and it's a very inhospitable place to live.

"I thought it was my son. But this is someone else's son and the family is going through such a difficult time."

Madison Williams, who lives nearby, said she "did not know" what was going on when she saw the closure near Tesco. "I think it's a small thing, like someone stealing something," she said.

"I didn't know it could get so bad." The 21-year-old, who moved to the area last August, added: "This is the first incident I've seen."

A resident told Nottinghamshire Live they believe a "little boy" was involved in a serious attack. The resident said neighbors tried to stop the blood flow with towels before emergency services came to pick him up.

Detective Inspector Gail Routledge said: "Officers were on the scene within minutes and are trying to understand what happened. Anyone who sees the incident or has any information please give us a call on 101, quoting the date Event 476 for March 16, 2022."
