Nine years since a bushfire burnt through 20-thousand hectares on the Tasman peninsula, the victims have been compensated.

28-million dollars has now been paid out to the 445 victims of the Forcett Dunalley bushfire and their insurers. It's hoped the end of litigation will close the painful chapter. Justice Escourt found the defendants had been negligent for lighting the campfire in a tree stump which is against the law and for failing to properly extinguish that fire."
