The festival of Holi is celebrated with great pomp across the country. But according to religious beliefs, Holashtak starts about 8 days before Holi and these days continue till Holika Dahan. Doing any auspicious work during this period of Holashtak is considered inauspicious. Therefore, it is forbidden to do auspicious work about 8 days before Holi. It is believed that at the time of Holashtak, the nature of all the planets remains fiery. In such a situation, doing auspicious reasons during this time does not give full results. Therefore, 8 days before this Holi, one should avoid doing auspicious work.Holashtak starting from this day According to the scriptures, Holashtak starts every year on the Ashtami date of Shukla Paksha of Falgun month. After this it ends with Holika Dahan on Falgun Purnima. This year Holashtak will start from 02:56 am on 10th March. With this, Holika Dahan will be done on March 17 and with this Holashtak will end on this day itself.

देशभर में होली का त्योहार बड़ी धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। मगर धार्मिक मान्यताओं अनुसार, होली के करीब 8 दिन पहले होलाष्टक शुरू हो जाता है और ये दिन होलिका दहन तक चलते हैं। होलाष्टक की इस अवधि में कोई मांगलिक कार्य करना अशुभ माना जाता है। इसलिए होली से करीब 8 दिन पहले से ही शुभ कार्य करने की मनाही होती है। माना जाता है कि होलाष्टक के समय सभी ग्रहों का स्वभाव उग्र रहता है। ऐसे में इस दौरान शुभ कारण करने से इसका पूरा फल नहीं मिलता है। इसलिए इस होली के 8 दिन पहले शुभ कार्य करने से बचना चाहिए...इस दिन से शुरू हो रहा होलाष्टक शास्त्रों अनुसार, होलाष्टक हर साल फाल्गुन माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि से शुरु होता है। इसके बाद फाल्गुन पूर्णिमा को होलिका दहन के साथ यह समाप्त होता है। इस साल होलाष्टक 10 मार्च सुबह 02:56 बजे से शुरु होगा। इसके साथ होलिका दहन 17 मार्च को की जाएगी और इसी के साथ इस दिन को ही होलाष्टक का अंत होगा।
