U.S. Futures Make Gains

U.S. stock futures rose in early activity on Tuesday after the Dow fell more than 800 points in the previous session. Investors are waiting for a wide swath of earnings results from firms like Dick’s Sporting Goods ($DKS@US), Casey’s General Stores ($CASY@US), and ABM Industries ($ABM@US). The Small Business Index is to be released Tuesday morning, and wholesale inventory data will come out later in the day. Prior to seeing this data, investors are staying away from traditional stocks and moving into futures. Dow futures rose 97 points and S&P 500 futures rose 17.5 points overnight. Meanwhile, NASDAQ futures rose more than 36 points. Adding to market pressure were comments from Secretary of State Antony Blinken who said on Sunday that the U.S. was considering a ban on Russian oil and gas. Meanwhile, Brent crude futures rose more than 2%, surpassing $125 per barrel while West Texas Intermediate futures rose more than a percent, surpassing $121 per barrel.
