Captivating black-and-white photographs of musicians, fans and actors, this new book chronicles the hedonistic era of the late '80s and early '90s known as Madchester.

Madchester is a Manchester music and cultural venue closely associated with the indie rave scene, where artists blend indie music with elements of acid house, psychedelic and '60s pop, captured there by photographer Richard Davies all of these

Richard's photos have now been published for the first time in a photo album titled The Madchester Years 1989-91, which includes The Stone Roses, Clint Boon, Bez, Caroline Ahearne, A Some Ratio, Northside, Steve Coogan, 808 State, Blossom and Terry Christian.

The Madchester years are often thought to be heavily influenced by drugs, especially ecstasy. At the time, the now infamous Manor nightclub was a key catalyst for Manchester's unique musical spirit known as the Second Summer of Love.

A new book chronicling the hedonistic era of the late '80s, early '90s, and '90s, this new book contains captivating black-and-white photos of musicians, music fans, and actors alike called Madchester (pictured, with Bez dancing on stage).

Richard explained: "To this day, I look back fondly and thank my lucky star, as I happened to be in Manchester City at the end of 1988.
