In NON's directorial debut, and inspired by struggles faced by art students during COVID-19 that NON witnessed, Ribbon tells the story of art student Itsuka Asakawa (NON). Itsuka spent a year working on her graduation project but in the winter of 2020 the planned exhibition is cancelled due to COVID-19, depriving her of purpose or motivation to complete her project. She spends her days at home during lockdown but slowly loses her motivation to do anything and begins an internal struggle to figure out what she should be doing with her life.
