In the six months since Afghanistan’s capital Kabul fell to the Taliban thousands of refugees and asylum seekers have sought safety in Australia. One group of recent arrivals is being housed in temporary accommodation in central Melbourne while efforts are underway to find them permanent homes. Just a block away are several other Afghan nationals whose experience of refuge in Australia is very different.
