The Religious Discrimination Bill has passed the Lower House of Parliament after a marathon debate

The legislation aims to stop someone from being discriminated against because of their religious beliefs. Concerns were raised that trans and gay students wouldn't be protected from exclusion by schools. Five liberal MPs voted against the government to force amendments to the sex discrimination act.
