Arjuna might argue that he would give up the battle on the grounds of magnanimity toward the most respectable Bhīṣma and Arjuna's relatives, but Lord Krishna considered that sort of magnanimity mere weakness of heart and thus non-Aryan -- against the spiritual values that characterize Aryans, those who are concerned with the ultimate questions of life.
