Kanye Rejects NFTs

Rap superstar Kanye West is one of the biggest names in music and pop culture, especially as it relates to his latest album and his dissolving marriage to Kim Kardashian. People in his position have been flooding the NFT market. It was previously reported that Justin Bieber spent over $1 million on an NFT and owns over 100 of them. Kanye, however, has pushed back on calls for him to enter the market and produce his own crypto art. In an Instagram post on Monday, West asked fans to stop asking about NFTs, instead, he wants to focus on problems in the “real world.” To his credit, the post seems to reference homelessness, poverty, starvation wages, and many other issues facing millions of Americans. He ended the post saying he was “not on that wave…I make music and products in the real world.” Meanwhile, the NFT market is welcoming many new artists like Eminem who recently bought a Bored Ape NFT for 123.45 Ethereum, worth around $460,000 at the time. At press time, Ethereum was down nearly 9%, trading at just under $2800 on an increasing volume and a rising market cap.
