Government pledges $1b extra funding to Great Barrier Reef

The federal government has pledged one billion dollars to protect the Great Barrier Reef, but labour is questioning the timing. The cash will be spent over the next nine years and will go towards projects that improve water quality and habitat restoration. It comes after Australia narrowly avoided having the great barrier reef listed as "in danger," but it still must convince UNESCO that it's doing enough to tackle the threat of climate change.
