नए साल (New Year) की शुरुआत के बाद आज देशभर में पहला त्यौहार लोहड़ी (Lohri) मनाया जा रहा है. लोहड़ी का त्योहार हर साल देशभर में धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है. इस त्योहार का लोगों के बीच हमेशा से ही एक खास क्रेज होता है.नाच गाने से सजा ये त्योहार खुशियों से भरा होता है. इस पर्व की धूम उत्तर भारत खासकर पंजाब (Punjab), हरियाणा (Haryana) और दिल्ली (Delhi) में ज्यादा होती है। लोहड़ी को शीत ऋतु के जाने और वसंत ऋतु के आगमन के तौर पर भी देखा जाता है। कहा जाता है कि लोहड़ी के समय किसानों के खेत लहलहाने लगते हैं और रबी की फसल कटकर आती है. नई फसल के आने की खुशी और अगली बुवाई की तैयारी से पहले लोहड़ी का जश्‍न मनाया जाता है.
