North Korea says it has conducted a hypersonic missile test on January 11, 2022. The test came soon after another missile launch on January 5. The test was the first in nearly two years that was attended by the country’s leader Kim Jong-un, who had made a New Year’s vow to modernise the country’s forces. Kim also called for boosting the country’s strategic military forces after watching the alleged hypersonic missile test. The move has drawn condemnation from Japan and South Korea.
