One month before Uttar Pradesh goes to polls along with four other states, the Bharatiya Janata Party has seen five MLAs tender their resignation, including one state minister. Swami Prasad Maurya, Minister for Labour and Employment from the Yogi Adityanath government, joined BJP in 2016 after switching from Mayawati-led BSP. Soon after Maurya posted his resignation on Twitter, Akhilesh Yadav posted a photo of the two, welcoming Maurya to Samajwadi Party. The other MLAs are Roshan Lal Verma, Brijesh Prajapati and Bhagwati Prasad Sagar.
