The top infectious diseases expert in the US has lashed out at a conservative Republican senator in a congressional hearing into the country's COVID response. Rand Paul suggested Dr Anthony Fauci is responsible for close to 900,000 COVID deaths, which prompted Dr Fauci to fire back, saying the senator is spreading lies.
