Many Muslim women in India were put up for ‘auction’ on Bulli Bai app on January 1, 2022. Their photographs were uploaded without their consent on the app. Those targeted include journalists, activists, politicians - any woman from the Muslim community who is outspoken and had a strong presence on social media platforms like Twitter. And although the content was later, removed, such targeted harassment of Muslim women is not the first instance in India.
