New 25km bridge opens to connect islands off China’s east coast
  • 2 years ago
A new bridge officially opened to traffic between two islands of China’s eastern province of Zhejiang on December 29, 2021. The 25km (16-mile) span is the first permanent sea-crossing linking Zhoushan and Daishan islands. About 400,000 tonnes of steel was used to build the Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge over about four years. State media reports said that more than 85 per cent of the assembly was done by automatic welding robots.
